Mozambique: Government decrees two days of national mourning for cyclone victims

There was unusual violence in Nacala-Porto Wednesday and Thursday (3-4 October). On Wednesday five soldiers in uniform tried to drive through a Renamo parade (caravana) in a military vehicle and they were stopped and beaten. On Wednesday night a Frelimo supporter was beaten by unknown people in Macone neighbourhood and was hospitalised.
On Thursday night the Nacala-Porto head of the Frelimo-aligned liberation war fighters (Antigos Combatentes de Luta de Libertacao Nacional, ACLLIN), Samuel Libububo, tried to block a Renamo parade with his motorcycle near his house in Sonho Real, and was seriously beaten.
