Mozambique: Government calls for participation in 50th anniversary celebrations

President Nyusi has addressed a message of condolences to his Indonesian counterpart, Joko Widodo, in solidarity with the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that struck the island of Sulawesi there last week.
“I and the Government of the Republic of Mozambique are deeply dismayed to learn of the tragic 7.5 magnitude earthquake and Tsunami that on 28 September struck on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, causing the loss of hundreds of human lives, serious destruction and damage to infrastructure,” the head of state’s message reads
President Nyusi goes on to say that, at this difficult time, the thoughts and sympathy of Mozambicans are with the Indonesian people, and expresses their solidarity with the president of that country and the Indonesian nation.
