Mozambique: ENI Open Day
The Mozambican literature for children and youth in the market
Lecture: Mozambican literature for children and youth in the Brazilian publishing market
Speaker: Eliane Debus - Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
The lecture talks about the compulsory teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian culture in schools in Brazil that since 2003, when Law 10.639 was created, has provoked an expansion in the Brazilian publishing market of literary books for children and youth.
We can say that the titles that circulate today are divided into three broad categories: 1) literature that themes African and Afro-Brazilian culture; 2) Afro-Brazilian literature and 3) African literature (DEBUS, 2017).
The proposed debate will focus on books from the third category, that is, those authored by Portuguese-speaking African writers, restricting the focus on Mozambican authors.
