A group of 43 Mozambican businesspeople are starting a business mission to the United States today, a source from the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA), Mozambique’s main employers’ association, has told Lusa.
The mission will run until Thursday September 27 and includes a business forum in New York on Monday, September 24, which aims to “create partnerships and share opportunities” in both countries.
Today and Saturday, the business delegation will make and maintain contacts with companies in the oil and gas sector, a spokesman added.
The detailed programmes includes visits to companies in Houston and Louisiana.
The business mission was expected to coincide with a visit by the Mozambican president, Filipe Nyusi, to the United States, about which the presidency declined to provide any information, Lusa reports.
President Nyusi’s last official visit to the United States took place in June 2017, with US investment in Mozambican natural gas one of the central themes.
