Representatives from Portuguese-speaking countries’ central banks are meeting in Maputo between Wednesday and Friday this week to assess common risks and study forms of cooperation the host, Bank of Mozambique, said today.
The banks are holding the 5th meeting of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) central bank supervision.
The first of these meetings was organised by Portugal in 2011, followed by Angola (2013), Brazil (2015) and Cape Verde (2016).
At the last meeting, the governor of the Bank of Cape Verde, João Serra, said there should be a more realistic assessment of banking risk and faster intervention by the supervisor when there is any danger for the financial system.
