Mozambique has presented 25 projects worth $1.4 billion (€1.1 billion) to be financed by the Africa Investment Forum, an official source told Lusa.
“Funding will depend on the quality of the 25 projects. But we are optimistic,” Pietro Toigo, a resident representative of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Mozambique told Lusa on the sidelines of a question and answer session about the the Africa Investment Forum which took place in Maputo on Monday.
The projects cover areas in the fields of education, tourism, energy, agriculture and infrastructure, and will be selected through the business support office of the Confederation of Business Associations of Mozambique.
“It is worth pointing out that the AfDB doesn’t limit itself to funding projects, but also brings new funders to the African continent,” Mr Toigo added.
The conference, which will determine the future of the 25 projects, is scheduled for 7 November in Johannesburg in South Africa.
The African Development Bank expects to take on over 100 projects from African countries at the Africa Investment Forum, worth a total $50 billion.
