Embroidery from Madeira, one of Portugal’s islands, was featured by the Madeira Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts (IVBAM) in the Homo Faber craftsmanship fair in Venice, Italy, at the “Discovery and Rediscovery” pavilion, on Monday.
IVBAM invited the Portuguese participation to be present in one of the pavilions until 30 September in Venice, two artisans give live demonstrations of the the embroidering from Madeira in the Best of Europe space.
“Brands like Montblanc, Van Cleef & Arpels, Lesage, Hermès, Cartier, among others, show the public the artisans who are behind some of the most luxurious creations in the world of these hand-made items”, said the IVBAM’s chairwoman, Paula Jardim.
According to Paula Jardim, “Madeira’s stand has been widely visited by many different kinds of people”, adding that “great importance can come from here, providing a greater visibility for Madeira’s embroidery”.
The Homo Faber exhibition is taking place on the San Giorgio Maggiore island, Venice, until 30 September.
