Momad Assif Abdul ‘Nini’ Satar has been formally charged with forgery, using a false name and corruption, Notícias reports today.
Also accused are Sahime Mohammad Aslam, his nephew and the name under which Satar was travelling, and National Migration Service employee Cidalia dos Santos, who issued the false passport to Satar.
According to Notícias, the case has already been sent to the Judicial Court of KaMpfumu in Maputo, with the expectation that there will be a trial soon.
Sahime Mohamad Aslam is the son of Farida Satar, Nini Satar’s older sister.
Cidalia dos Santos has been a National Migration Service (SENAMI) employee for ten years and is being investigated for having helped many foreigners to obtain Mozambican passports fraudulently, according to an investigative report by the National Crime Investigation Service in partnership with SENAMI.
The discovery of these crimes came about after the repatriation of Nini Satar, who was detained on 25 July in Thailand, where he had been living for three years.

The judicial authorities, the Notícias report relates, had predicted that the return of Satar would help clarify the falsification of the passport, as well as the kidnappings he carried out with the help of prisoners from the cells of Maputo Police Command.
