About 3,000 adolescents under 18 dropped out of school in Mozambique in 2017 because they were pregnant, the education ministry said on Wednesday calling for greater awareness in society about the situation.
“In 2017, we had 3,000 cases across the country, which was slightly higher than the year before, the national director of transversal affairs at the ministry told the O País newspaper today.
Ivaldo Quincardete argued that there should be greater mobilisation by society against the harm caused by pregnancies in girls aged under 18 as this situation compromised their future.
