Widow, mother of three, raped and murdered in Maputo – Watch

A woman was raped and murdered at her residence in the Mahotas neighbourhood on the outskirts of Maputo in the early hours of Monday morning. Neighbours suspect the crime may have been committed by some of the neighbourhood’s young residents.

The attack took place in the victim’s home in the neighbourhood’s Block 21. The culprits, so far unknown, broke the bedroom window to gain entry to the house, where they raped the woman before beating her to death.

Family members are shocked by the news.

The woman’s neighbour says he did not hear any noise, but his suspicions were aroused by the broken window and a cell-phone charger lying on the ground .

The deceased was a widow and a mother of three, the oldest aged 15 years old. Mercifully, the children were on holidays at relatives’ homes at the time.

Residents are uniformly saddened by the incident and deeply shocked. They suspect the act may have been committed by young residents from the neighbourhood.
