Frelimo says Samora Jr. has not submitted resignation letter

Asked to react to Samora Machel Júnior’s decision to run as head of list for the organisation named AJUDEM in Maputo City, Frelimo spokeswoman Caifadine Manasse said on Tuesday that the party was not worried and was at the moment only thinking about the 53 municipalities in which it will compete in the October 10 electionss.

Caifadine Manasse did however say that Felimo still had no official notification of Samora Machel Júnior’s resignation, and that, as a member of the party’s central committee, he had a moral obligations to inform the party leadership on his decision.

“At this point we cannot make a statement about what steps will be taken and what will happen, because we do not have official information about it yet,” Caifadine said.

Frelimo said that it was already working with Eneas Comiche, head of the party list in the city of Maputo, on the October 10 elections.

“As Frelimo, we are more concerned with our head of list, Éneas Comiche, in whom we have full confidence,” Caifadine added.
