Breaking: Samora Machel Jr. runs for mayor of Maputo in civil society list

Samora Machel Júnior has accepted to be the head of list in the city of Maputo in the candidacy of AJUDEM, Youth Association for the Development of Mozambique.
The Frelimo member was invited to compete for Civil Society last Friday. “I will think about this proposal with great affection because the people come first,” he said on the occasion.
The son of the second president of the party had been left out of the internal race to be a candidate for the Frelimo head of the list in Maputo city. In the list that the City Committee had sent to the Political Commission last July, Eneas Comiche, Fernando Sumbana and Razaque Manhique were named, and Comiche was chosen to stand as Frelimo candidate.
According to sources close to the process, by then Samora Machel Jr. was already considering the possibility of running for Mayor with the support of a group of citizens.
