Congratulations on announcement of agreement on military issues – Unabridged

The United States Government congratulates the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, and the Coordinator of the Renamo Political Commission, Ossufo Momade, on the signing of a comprehensive agreement on military issues.
This agreement is the result of the determination and hard work of all the leaders and negotiators who participated, and represents a critical step toward a lasting peace for a more secure and prosperous future.
As a member of the International Contact Group, the United States reaffirms its commitment to support the full implementation of a comprehensive peace agreement, and joins others in the international community in pledging to play a constructive role in ensuring all aspects of the agreement are fulfilled.
