The Mozambican parliament voted yesterday to reject a Renamo request to schedule a government clarification of the public debt situation.
The application, which was submitted to the president of the assembly and asked for an urgent clarification of a previously undeclared debt of more than US$700 million contracted by the Armando Guebuza executive, as revealed last weekend by the American Wall Street Journal, was rejected by virtue of the Frelimo majority vote.
The scheduling issue did not reach consensus at the standing committee level and was taken to plenary deliberation where it was defeated by the majority bench.
