Brazil ex-president Jair Bolsonaro's son charged with coercion
Angola’s government estimates that around half of the medicines in the country are counterfeit and that the health authorities are going to close 217 illegal chemist shops just in Luanda in the next fortnight.
There are 1,447 chemist’s shops in Angola but 217 are illegal just in Luanda, without any authorisation or a forged licence, the government warned.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with drug and pharmaceutical product importers, distributors and sellers, Angola’s general health inspector, Miguel de Oliveira said the importers would also be held liable if they sold their products to illegal or false retailers.
Miguel de Oliveira also estimated that about 50% of the medicines that circulate in the country are counterfeit because of the huge land border between Angola and some of these traffickers.
He particularly warned about drugs for tuberculosis, malaria, antiretroviral medicine and their formulations.
