Mozambique: One dead and 18 injured in accident involving football team
Police in Maputo yesterday detained thirteen individuals for the consumption and sale of drugs, especially cannabis sativa (suruma), and a powder suspected of being heroin.
The individuals were arrested in the Co-op neighbourhood, in the area commonly known as ‘Colombia’, considered one of the capital’s drug hot spots.
The group, which includes two women, denies consuming narcotics and says it has no idea where the seized drugs came from.
The chief of operations at the Maputo Third Precinct Police Station, Mabiel Gove, said the operation which culminated in the arrest of the individuals would move on to cover all of the city’s neighbourhoods.
