Mozambique’s mineral resources and energy minister, Max Tonela, is in Thailand on Tuesday to negotiate the sale of gas from the Rovuma basin in the north of Mozambique, his government department said today.
Max Tonela aims to ensure that Thailand buys 2.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), negotiated with the Consortium with US multinational Anadarko.
Anadarko, in partnership with Exxon Mobil and Thai company PTTEO, have the concession of Area 1 in the Rovuma basin, where they intend to produce LNG.
The sales agreements are fundamental for the sector’s companies to get funding to develop the production projects.
