“An actual split within the MDM!” is how António Frangoulis describes the situation in the Mozambican Democratic Movement. Frangoulis says that both he and Venancio Mondlane will still come before the public and explain their positions.
Meanwhile, Frangoulis announced this Friday during STV’s ‘Noite Informativao’ [Informative Night] programme that he is to leave the MDM, and just needs to formalise his exit from the party.
He also says that there is no justification for the MDM not holding internal elections and that, because it is not democratic, the party has shown that it is not a political alternative in Mozambique.
Many young people have abandoned the MDM for this reason, Frangoulis says.
Former Director of the Criminal Investigation Police (PIC) in Maputo and deputy police commissioner, António Frangoulis resigned from Frelimo in June 2014 to join the Mozambique Democratic Movement.
He entered the MDM as Assembly of the Republic deputy candidate for the province of Maputo.
