Frelimo condemns Cabo Delgado attacks

Frelimo’s Political Committee has condemned the attacks by criminals and opportunists who are manipulating public opinion with the aim of creating panic among the population of Cabo Delgado province.
After assessing the situation in the districts of Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, Nangade and Macomia in Cabo Delgado, the body urged the province’s residents to remain calm and to reinforce vigilance.
In a statement seen by Radio Mozambique, the Political Commission expresses its solidarity with the bereaved families and praises the cooperation of the population with the Defense and Security Forces dealing with the attacks.
The political party’s highest body goes on to salute President Filipe Nyusi for his commitment to pursuing open, inclusive and participatory governance.
The Political Committee, which met in ordinary session, encourages Frelimo to continue its efforts to reach a consensus on the feasibility of revising the legislative package on decentralization, with a view to achieving effective and lasting peace.
