Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosario on Wednesday called for “greater visibility” of the country at the world fair, Expo-2020, that will be held in Dubai between October 2020 and April 2021.
He was speaking in Maputo at the ceremony where he swore into office Miguel Mkaima as the General Commissioner for the Mozambican exhibition at Expo-2020. The Dubai world fair is being held under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.
Rosario urged Mkaima to comply with the timetable already laid down for the Mozambican exhibition, and to involve Mozambican residents in the United Arab Emirates and the neighbouring countries.
“We believe that if we proceed in this way, the conditions will be established for the success of our delegation at this world event”, said the Prime Minister.
He recommended that Expo 2020 be used to strengthen relations between Mozambique and the UAE, and to explore new opportunities for economic, social and cultural partnerships. The World Fair would, Rosario said, be “a precious moment for promoting and publicising the image of Mozambique, and of its cultural and tourist mosaic”.
“Our participation in Expo 2020 in Dubai is another step in integrating Mozambique in the concert of nations, as a sovereign state with its own vision of development in various fields”, he declared.
For his part, Mkaima promised to carry a message of the values that Mozambique has been building, particularly in education. “The core of our presence will be how we treat other people, how we treat human life”, Mkaima told reporters.
