China’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Su Jian, said on Monday that his country’s investment in Mozambique’s four priority areas aims to achieve economic autonomy for the country in the coming decades.
Su believes that, with autonomy, the Mozambican economy will be able to stand up to the enormous internal and external challenges it faces, as well as taking full advantage of its opportunities.
Su Jian was speaking at a press conference following a courtesy meeting between Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário and China’s Deputy Minister of Commerce Qian Keming.
“We can have more sustainable cooperation with Mozambique, and a more autonomous economy, that can face, in the next decades, all the challenges and take every opportunity,” said the diplomat, quoted by AIM.
On Monday, Qian witnessed the donation of about US$100 million for the execution of four development projects in Mozambique: the construction of Xai-Xai Airport in the southern province of Gaza; construction of the Technical Institute of Gorongosa in Sofala; technical assistance to the Zimpeto National Stadium in Mapu; and the sending of agricultural specialists to China for training.
