The National Institute of Disaster Management (INGC) and its partners are to spend US$103 million helping the nearly one-and-a-half million people hit by food insecurity in the country due to drought.
Latest data from the government’s Technical Secretariat for Food Security and Nutrition suggest that 315,000 people are facing hunger, and the number has increased considerably recently, leading to the INGC and partners’ announcement on Monday.
Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Sofala, and Tete and Zambezia in the south are the regions worst affected.
