Mozambique: Three dead bodies found in Macomia district - Lusa
At least 17 people died and another 50 were injured, 26 of them seriously, last week, in 31 road accidents across the country.
According to PRM General Command spokesman Inácio Dina, speeding was responsible for most of the road accidents recorded.
“Unfortunately, the number of road accidents increased by 15 percent: 31 cases, against 27 in the comparative period of 2017. Most of the accidents involved pedestrians (17),” Dina told the press in Maputo at the weekly PRM briefing.
Dina also reported that the PRM had registered 124 criminal cases, against 146 in the same period of 2017. Crimes against property made up the bulk of the cases (71).
Police also seized seven firearms – two AK47 and five pistols – and a total of 1,214 individuals were arrested, including 1,037 for border violations, two for clandestine migration and 175 for common crimes.
