The Namacurra rice processing plant in Zambézia, which went into operation in 2013 with a state investment of around US$10 million, has been closed for more than a year because of the total failure of its electrical system.
Provincial Director of Industry and Commerce Momade Juizo is encouraging the private sector to invest in the factory so that the enterprise can be restarted.
Apparently, within the framework of a partnership between the Zambézia Business Council and the Consulate of the Philippines in Mozambique, some Filipino businessmen are interested in exploring the possibility.
“In order for the factory to take its place in the country’s economy, it must be reconfigured, creating production conditions that justify the restart of the facility,” Philippine Consul Donald Tulcidas has said.
