Officials in Sofala say there are as yet no clues in the case of the businessman kidnapped at the door of his home in Beira on Thursday of last week.
Without revealing details of the ongoing investigation, the criminal investigation section working with the police on the case are worried about the way in which the 50-year-old businessman was abducted outside the family home five days ago.
In order not to compromise the investigation, the authorities in Sofala are keeping the process confidential, but have filed a procedural plea against persons unknown.
Miramar learned from an anonymous source that the authorities do not rule out the possibility of a connection with the kidnapping of a 9- year-old child outside a school in the Macuti area on the 17th of this month. The child was returned to her family just 24 hours after being kidnapped.
At the moment, the authorities are investigating how the ransom, which is supposed to have involved direct negotiation between the minor’s relatives and the kidnappers, was handled.
