Mozambique: Over 180 tonnes of waste removed from coastal areas

Mozambique will benefit from US$16 million for the conservation of endangered species through the implementation of the Conservation Law and anti-poaching actions.
The funds will be provided by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
A ceremony marking the official granting of the fund headed by the Deputy Minister of Land, Environment and Rural Development, Celmira da Silva is being held today in Maputo.
The funding, formalised today and implemented for six years, “is intended to implement the Conservation Act and actions to mitigate poaching among communities living in parks and buffer zones,” announced the Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development, in a statement.
In the name of biodiversity, the aim is to achieve, “expansion of conservation areas, through the establishment of community areas aligned with actions focused on rural development,” it concluded.
