The president of Guinea-Bissau, José Mário Vaz, appointed Aristides Gomes, (63) prime minister on Monday of an inclusive government tasked with holding general elections later this year.
The president said the new PM was chosen following a series of talks to find someone all parties could back.
The appointment is supposed to bring an end to three years of political crisis in the country.
Aristides Gomes is going to be the seventh prime minister President José Mário Vaz has appointed since he came to office in 2014.
Aristides Gomes has already been the country’s prime minister between November 2005 and April 2007.
