Scuba Diving in Ponta do Ouro:

Weather you are a beginner or advanced diver, Ponta do Ouro has reefs suited for any type of divers experience. In fact, if you have never dived before, then why not learn in Ponta do Ouro – Full training (PADI) is provided at some of the lodges.

Close to shore, Ponta do Ouro offers divers more than 15 beautiful coral reefs to explore. All range in different depths (up to 48 meters) which caters for beginner and advanced divers. Popular dive sites such as ‘Waynes World’, ‘Bass City’, ‘Pinnacles’ and ‘Atlantis’ are home to a great variety of marine life, including: Whale Sharks, Zambezi Sharks, Reef Sharks Potato Bass, Blue Spotted Rays, Brown Ribbon-Tailed Rays, Geometric Rays, Lion fish, Moral eels, Octopus, Bait fish, Goat fish, Paper fish, Rock Cod, Puffer fish, Trigger fish and much much more!

Ponta do Ouro also boasts a high success rate in sightings, which has created a lot of interest and has also made many divers come back for more and more!

Big Game Deep Sea Fishing in Ponta do Ouro:

Another very popular and competitive activity in Ponta do Ouro is Deep Sea Fishing. Reefs attract a lot of big game fish which ultimately gives deep sea anglers plenty of action and some rewarding catches. Common fish caught include: Sailfish, Marlin, dorado, king fish, King & Queen mackerel, Wahoo, Tuna and a range of other big game fish.

Swim & Snorkel with Dolphins in Ponta do Ouro:

Experienced marine biologists in Ponta do Ouro will give you the opportunity to swim with bottle-nose Dolphins close to shore. Lessons in safety and how to interact with Dolphins will be learn’t before swimming with one of the oceans most respected mammals.

Snorkeling in Ponta do Ouro:

Ponta do Ouro’s natural bay creates calm sea conditions near the point, where there are rocks pools attracting lots of fish. Great Snorkeling can enjoyed in and around these rocks.

Turtles Laying eggs on the beach:

Watch nature at its best right on Ponta do Ouro’s Beaches. Between the months of November and March, sea turtles swim to shore to lay their eggs. Visitors can also witness new born sea turtles hatch and scramble to shore … ready to start a generation! A fascinating spectacle not to be missed!!

Maputo Elephant Reserve nearby Ponta do Ouro:

79km South of Maputo and not so far from South Africa, Swaziland and Ponta do Ouro, is the Maputo Elephant Reserve (part of the Lubombo Trans-frontier Conservation Area – a project joining areas in countries of Mozambique, South Africa and Swaziland. Elephants, Leopards, Hippos, Crocodiles, Antelope, Flamingos and a wide variety of birds can be spotted in this reserve.

Quad Biking, Rentals and Tours:

No other better way to explore the area than by Quad bike. 4×4 tracks, Sand Dunes, inland lakes and nearby beach forests can be enjoyed on a Quad Bike. If you don’t have your own Quad, you always rent them in Ponta do Ouro. There are also Quad bike tours which are day excursions around the area.

There is a great variety of walk-in beach bars and restaurants all over Ponta do Ouro. The main road going through Ponta do Ouro is packed with holiday makers especially during the holidays seasons.
