Mozambique: Putting an end to "public disorder" is the watchword - government
Notícias / Cabnet sopkeswoman Ana Comoana
Mozambicans can now acquire vehicles license plates with their names or any other combination they wish on them.
This has becomes possible thanks to the approval yesterday by the Council of Ministers of a decree amending the regulation on the registration system of motor vehicles and trailers approved in 2007. Personalised number plates are common in Southern Africa.
According to spokeswoman Ana Comoana, the new provision also approves the permanent update of the country’s existing vehicle database.
“This revision harmonises the legal regime of motor vehicles and trailers registration and classification approved in 2011. The revision also incorporates the regulation of industrial, agricultural or forestry machines and motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles and quadbikes,” Comoana explained.
The Council of Ministers also approved a decree repealing article 19 of the Road Code Regulation, dated 1959, ensuring the observance of the motor vehicle safety standards and standardising import rules for used vehicles and their compliance with the current road code.
The Council of Ministers also considered a draft law for the Statute of Judicial Magistrates, to be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic and adapting the instrument to demands and priorities related to proximity to the citizen, transparency, and the integrity of the administration of justice system.
It also considered a revision of the law establishing the labour courts, with the aim of adapting it to current legal, social and economic conditions and to the demands and priorities that arise in labour matters.
