A group of armed men attacked the village of Nathuko, administrative post of Quiterajo, Macomia District, Cabo Delgado Province, on Tuesday 12 June.
The individuals, currently at large, beheaded a villager, burned down several homes and also killed all the animals.
Nathuko had just over a hundred houses built of precarious material. It is close to the village headquarters of Quiterajo, where government forces are encamped.
Information sent to Ntatenda and Pinnacle News through local sources has reported that the attacker fled as son as they became aware of the arrival of the Defense and Security Forces.
Villagers who feared the arrival of the group of armed men had left the area before the incident and taken shelter at the seashore.
The only elderly man who, living alone, chose to stay overnight in the village, was beheaded.
It is estimated that all houses were set on fire by the insurgents.
People interviewed by our sources believe that a significant part of these insurgents are natives of that coastal zone. They were reportedly mobilised and picked up from the area to carry out these raids.
