The 3,000 vendors and customers of the Zimpeto wholesale market in Maputo will from today enjoy the benefit of a disinfection tunnel to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 infections, Radio Mozambqiue reports.
The equipment was offered by the Mahometan Community [Comunidade Mahometane], in its partnership with Maputo City Council (MCM).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Maputo mayor Eneas Comiche said that the initiative was part of the city’s efforts to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, while vice president of the Mahometan Community Assembly, Magide Ibrahimo, explained that the institution would soon provide a further two tunnels and 100,000 masks.
Zimpeto market administrator Ester Chonguene highlighted the tunnel’s importance in strengthening Covid-19 counter-measures.
