Six people have been detained for allegedly murdering a four-year-old child with albinism.
Two more are on the run and are being pursued over the murder allegations.
Zambézia provincial command spokesman Sidner Lonzo said of the six detainees, three were held in Mopeia while the other three are in Morrumbala, among them a professor at an Agrarian School of Boroma.
Information obtained has further revealed that one of the suspects on the run is a teacher and presumed principal of the murder of the minor whose organs are believed to be purposes of illicit enrichment while another is allegedly a traditional healer.
Police say cases of albino murders in Zambezia are rare, with Lonzo saying this particular case involving a minor is strange but added that “we will activate operational variants to avoid future cases”.
