Maintenance works at the Águas de Maputo (AdeM) Chamanculo Water Distribution Centre neighbourhood are expected to disrupt water supply to consumers in Alto-Maé, Malanga, Munhuana, Maxaquene, Mafalala, Mavalane, Polana Caniço, Mahotas, Pescadores, Mapulene and Chiango.
AdeM Maintenance Director Claudia Ronda says disruption would peak on Wednesday, November 6, and even neighbourhoods at some distance from AdeM distribution centres were expected to experience a drop in pressure and possibly even a complete lack of water at certain times of the day.
“This is corrective equipment maintenance following water loss in one of the water mains,” Ronda explained, and part of a programme of activity to combat losses sustained by the company.
“We will be replacing obsolete 20-year-old piping with new product, which will improve the efficiency of water distribution in Maputo city neighbourhoods,” Ronda said.
Water supply has been continuous in Maputo, Matola and Boane since last August. Supply has extended from an average of eight hours a day to 12 hours as storage levels in the Pequenos Libombos reservoir have risen.Source: A Verdade
