Vietnam’s ambassador to Mozambique, Hu Huang, has said Mozambique received an estimated US$600 million from the Vietnamese government over the last 10 years, especially in the area of transportation and communications. The diplomat made the announcement on Thursday shortly after the meeting in Maputo with Mozambique’s parliament speaker Verónica Macamo.
The diplomat revealed that he has invited Macamo to visit the Asian country in June 2019.
“In the last years, we have worked with Mozambique, mainly through Movitel. We have invested around US$600 million. With this, we seek to strengthen bilateral relations more and more, not only in the area of communications, but in other areas,” Huang said.
Movitel, Mozambique’s third biggest mobile phone operator, is one of the nation’s most comprehensive mobile operators.
The ambassador also announced that cooperation in training Mozambican state employees in human resource management will continue.
Through other forms of cooperation with Mozambique, Vietnam has already trained a total of 39 Mozambicans
