President Nyusi yesterday completed the second day of his state visit to Kenya, undertaken at the invitation of his counterpart, Uhuru Kenyatta.
On Thursday, the head of state visited the United Nations Headquarters in Nairobi (UNON), which serves as the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme, and where he signed the honour book and received an explanation of the facility’s operations.

In a short speech on the occasion, the president noted that sustainable development was part of the government’s Five Year Plan and its second pillar. “We need to work together to develop this pillar, not only in Mozambique, but in the world in general,” he said.
President Nyusi remarked that Mozambique was prey to cyclical natural disasters such as floods and cyclones, and that, in order to minimise damage, especially to public infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, the idea of developing resilient infrastructure had taken firm hold.
The head of state also yesterday visited Black Petals, a flower farm with a vast market in the Middle East, and Brookside Milk Diary factory, where he inspected its state-of-the-art milk and dairy products production technology.
