Trans African Concessions (TRAC) and Mozal recently joined hands with Mozambican law enforcement authorities in a bid to improve road safety on the EN4 between Matola and Maputo.
This follows ongoing public complaints as well as numerous severe accidents on this section of the road that were related to speeding and blatant disregard for various other road regulations. Because of this, TRAC and Mozal, a prominent smelting facility in Matola called on the local police to conduct speed restrictions and road safety operations as often as possible, offering to assist them to do so.
TRAC’s assistance came in the form of a sponsorship worth MZN 672173.15 of two top-of-the-line Pro Laser III Speed Cameras. The hi-tech speed monitoring equipment is highly advanced and effective. TRAC also provided training to the police on the use of the devices and will be responsible for the maintenance costs thereof.
The cameras were officially handed over this week with police officials saying they will put them to use on the EN4 immediately. According to them, these devices will go a long way in ensuring that lawbreakers are brought to book.
