Three people died of rabies from 688 dog bites during the first half of this year in the city of Maputo.
The figure represents a reduction of five percent compared to the same period of 2016, when 728 people were bitten by rabid animals.
Health authorities however remain concerned and recommend collective preventative actions such as vaccination and the rounding up of stray cats and dogs.
