Houses burned by armed individuals on the night of June 19, 2018, in Litandacua, administrative post of Chai, Macomia district, Cabo Delgado province.
A group of individuals armed with machetes and other sharp weapons have attacked the village of Litandacua in the administrative post of Chai, a national liberation struggle historical site.
The attack, which began at 10:00 pm on Tuesday 19th and lasted until dawn the next day, resulted in four fatalities and saw 44 houses destroyed.
Witnesses at the scene told Ntatenda and Pinnacle News that gunmen broke into homes and beheaded residents, all of them male, before burning down all the houses in the village.
The government of the district of Macomia, in coordination with defence and security forces, moved into the village in the early hours order to evaluate the loss of life and damages to property.
This is the third attack recorded in Macomia this June. On the 5th, armed men attacked the village of Naunde in Mucojo locality, and on the 12th attacked Nathuko in the Quiterajo administrative post.
