Ten traffic police officers were recognised on Monday for resisting attempts to bribe them and reporting the offenders, the security force said.
“We have colleagues who have resisted acts of bribery, and this is a good example,” the Mozambican Information Agency (AIM) quotes Francisco Cainde, head of the Provincial Police Command of Chimoio, capital of the province of Manica, as saying.
Cainde was speaking after presenting the ten agents at a graduation ceremony, with the hope of encouraging others to follow their example.
The officers serve in the districts of Vanduzi, Gondola, Tambara and the city of Chimoio. As a result of their actions, nine people are currently detained for attempted bribery, Cainde added.
