Across the South African provinces of KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, avocados and macadamia nuts have become prime targets for organised criminals, leading to millions of euros in losses for farmers. Private security companies now patrol the fields night and day to protect them from the gangs, which are becoming increasingly organised.
