A South African woman found in possession of the drug ephedrine has been in detention in Maputo since Tuesday on drug trafficking charges.
According to the police, the 4.8 kilograms of ephedrine seized at Maputo International Airport had been brought in from Accra, Ghana, and its destination was Maputo, only not in the hands of the police where it ended up but in those of dealers yet to be identified.
The accused denies trafficking and blames a friend who she says gave her the suitcase with the drugs in.
Ephedrine is a vasopressor which induces vasoconstriction and elevates blood pressure and circulation, consequently boosting adrenaline.
