Vantagem+ has the honor to present a Seminar about Leadership Lessons from Nelson Mandela, on May 29th and 30th, presented by Professor Martin Kalungu-Banda, the author of the best seller “Leading like Madiba: Leadership Lessons from Nelson Mandela”.
Mandela was, without any doubt one of the great leaders of the 20th century, and his lessons about leadership are going to be discussed in a single event in Maputo, which every person who has leadership responsibilities should attend.
Our guest speaker, Martin Kalungu-Banda is going to talk about the importance of team leaders, explain the concept of management, guidance and leadership, and the meaning of this issues in modern companies.
The program includes an approach to every single detail about the ten ways of leadership by Nelson Mandela. On the first day, we are going to debate five of them, namely: why a leader has to cultivate a deep sense of admiration for human beings; why a leader should seek inspiration from the giftedness of others; why a leader has to grow his courage every single day and be an example to others, and why a leader should create his own brand of leadership.
The debate, on the second day, will approach the other five lessons: why a leader should practice humility, why a leader should learn to live with the Madiba paradox; why a leader should believe in his opponents, Why a leader should celebrate life and, in the end, we will analyze when and how a leader should know how to make himself replaceable.
The teachings, the values and the lifestyle of Nelson Mandela are going to be present in this seminar, by the voice of Professor Martin Kalungu-Banda, a person who has studied in Cambridge and Oxford, and has been in charge of multiple companies.

Martin Kalungu-Banda is a consultant in organisation and leadership development; a designer and facilitator of innovation and organisation change processes; a trainer, coach and author. He serves as Core-Faculty Member of the Presencing Institute, the HSBC Next Generation Development Programme, and the HRH Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference Leaders Programme. He has been visiting faculty for the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, the Copenhagen Business School and the Blekinge Institute of Technology. Martin serves as an adviser to the Africa Governance Initiative. Between March 2005 and May 2008, he served as Special Consultant to the President of Zambia. He is the author of the bestseller Leading Like Madiba: Leadership Lessons from Nelson Mandela (2006); It’s How We End That Matters: Leadership Lessons from an African President (2009) and On the Wings of Others: How to Access Life’s Greatest Opportunities (2015). Martin holds professional qualifications in Organisation Development and Coaching; and academic qualifications in Public Affairs, Philosophy, Development Studies and Anthropology.
