Seedstars World (SSW), the global community and platform for entrepreneurs in technology in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, is hosting Seedstars Summit, the thirds of the annual Africa Summit that connects the most relevant players in innovation and technology with the world and between each other. Tickets are available now on www.seedstarsworld.com
After hosting competitions in 20+ African countries throughout 2017, identifying the most promising startups and analyzing the local ecosystems, Seedstars World is now bringing together the best and most promising entrepreneurs with ecosystem players, mentors, investors, corporates and other entrepreneurs across the continent. The event is hosted by local ambassador organisation UX Information Technologies and supported by local and international partners such as Enel, Merck, Orange, Microsoft, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Embassy of Switzerland and Standard Bank amongst others.
The Africa Regional Summit will last for 3 days and bring together over 500 attendees commencing with a bootcamp for the participating startups, an ecosystem tour, investor day and culminate with a Conference on December 14th that will feature the startup pitches, keynotes, and panel discussions that will engage a range of topics and ideas pertinent to entrepreneurs in the region.
“We have been on a long and interesting journey when it comes to entrepreneurship and technology in emerging markets. As part of the Seedstars DNA we want to be on the ground working directly with startups, corporates and other stakeholders. This is exactly the reason why we are travelling to 88+ ecosystems globally this year over 20 countries in Africa. We are very excited to be able to bring the entire network together in Mozambique later this year and together look into some of the opportunities of the continent and explore how technologies can rapidly improve the current status quo in emerging markets worldwide.” says Claudia Makadristo, Regional Manager for Africa.
“We are very honored to host the 3rd edition of Seedstars Regional Summit in Africa, following the steps of Morocco and Rwanda, and finally bringing the Summit to Maputo. The Seedstars network is very solution oriented and we believe the Regional Summit is the perfect environment to bring together the best startups on the continent to exchange experiences from our individual markets and brainstorm truly applicable solutions for problems facing emerging markets, both on the continent and globally. It’ll also be a unique opportunity, not only for our international visitors to get first hand contact with the local tech and entrepreneurship scene and give them a chance to introduce their products and services to the Mozambican market, but it’ll also be a great opportunity for the local brands, sponsors and entrepreneurs who will be attending the 3 day activities to get to know what’s going on in the rest of the continent and also expose their products and services to a larger audience.”, says Tiago Borges Coelho, Co-Founder of UX, local Ambassadors to Seedstars.
THE CONFERENCE – The summit day kicks off with a number of workshops and roundtables addressing a wide range of emerging market specific challenges over a number of different industries (EduTech, EnergyTech, AgTech, Fintech, Healthtech and more). These sessions are part of Seedstars’ global initiative to bring together the most prominent experts, entrepreneurs and industry leaders in Africa, and facilitate meaningful discussions leading to tangible outcomes that can be implemented across the region.
During the final ceremony of Seedstars Africa Summit, over 20 of the most prominent entrepreneurs from the continent will be invited on stage to showcase their success stories and how they are using technology to solve local and regional issues. Other than the final pitches, top speakers will join us on the mainstage to provide valuable insights on their businesses, investments and will look into the success factors of the continent as well as the elements that still need to be improved in order to allow an African startup to scale and compete on a global stage.
THE BOOTCAMP – Prior to the conference, Seedstars World will host a 2 day invite-only Bootcamp, where local and international pre-selected startups will work with world-class local and international mentors on improving their business models, growth strategy and mastering the investor pitch. In addition to that, this year’s program will also give entrepreneurs the opportunity to be selected for the Seedstars Growth program, a seed investment that comes together with a 15 weeks acceleration program for early stage startups.
THE INVESTOR FORUM – The conference week also brings together the most prominent and active investors on the continent. Entrepreneurs will not only pitch in front of these investors, but also participate in one-on-one’s that will allow them to get an in-depth feedback about their business models, as well as create potential future funding opportunities.
THE ECOSYSTEM TOUR – The main ecosystem builders on the continent as well as a delegation of VIP-invitees are also invited to engage with the local ecosystem in a so called “knowledge exchange session”. In addition, the delegates will be visiting factories, incubation/acceleration spaces, and engage in discussions with government entities to get a better understanding of the locally applied policies designed to support entrepreneurship in the country.
SIDE EVENTS – In addition, a number of different side-events are organised around the conference. Such as the official opening of the Orange Corners Maputo Incubator by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW! Limited tickets are still available at http://www.seedstarsafrica.com and all Maputo and Matola Shoprite shops. Make sure you join us to see all of this and startups from 25 countries pitch on stage!
