Mozambique elections: NGO estimates point to 44 people killed during campaign

Mozambican head of state Filipe Nyusi has appointed Carlos Alberto Cauio, former chairperson of the Mozambican Bar Association, to the Superior Council of the Judiciary, a statement from the Presidency of the Republic reports.
Carlos Alberto Cauio was the first chairman of the Mozambican Bar Association after independence, and held the office from 1994 to 2008. He was most recently legal adviser to the president of the Mozambican Assembly (Speaker), Verónica Macamo.
In a separate order, Filipe Nyusi reappointed Maria Teresa Valente to the same position. She has been a member of the Superior Council of the Judiciary by presidential nomination since 2009.
The Superior Council of the Judiciary is the Mozambican body responsible for the management and discipline of members of the judiciary. Its jurisdiction also extends to bailiffs.Source: Lusa
