Mozambique: Maputo province enacts restrictions on movement of birds to contain avian flu

Portugal and the European Union will deliver a car and equipment to the Mozambican Criminal Investigation Police today as part of a joint support project.
The Project to Support the Consolidation of the Rule of Law in the PALOP and Timor-Leste (PACED) will assist the Drug Squad by providing a car, and will donate computer equipment for the teleconference room of the National Criminal Investigation Service of Mozambique (SERNIC).
The total value of the support offered is around EUR 65,000.
PACED’s stated objective is “to prevent and combat corruption, money laundering and organised crime, and in particular drug trafficking”, the project’s management team explains.
In addition to SERNIC, the project works regularly with Mozambican justice institutions and has already contributed to legislative harmonisation among the countries covered.
PACED is the result of the European Union’s partnership with Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) and Timor-Leste, in a project scheduled to last until December 2019 and budgeted at EUR 8.4 million, of which EUR 7 million are funded under the 10th. European Development Fund (EDF) and EUR 1.4 million by the Camões Instituto de Cooperação e da Língua.
Almost all of the money is administered directly by Camões.
