Early Sunday morning, August 27, six unidentified men entered the Mogovolas District Police Command, Nampula, claiming to bring with them a supposed criminal.
Inside the police station, the individuals withdrew a firearm and began firing at the policemen in duty, TVM reports. One of the officers died and the other contracted serious injuries.
The police have so far arrested one of the alleged criminals and is working to capture the other fugitives. It is suspected that the individuals wanted to steal military material, but this is an intention which failed.
The police rule out the possibilities of them being armed Renamo men or members of a terrorist group, but guarantees to be currently working to clarify the case as quick as possible.
