Police in Cabo Delgado have broken up 28 gangs of burglars this year. As a result of operations in all districts of the province, about 40 suspects have been arrested and a large quantity of stolen goods recovered.
According to the Provincial Police Command in Cabo Delgado, most of the burglars were arrested in the cities of Pemba and Montepuez, where they had been terrorising the population at night with firearms and other weapons.
Despite their success neutralising the gangs and detaining various elements of these criminal groups, the police are continuing their work of restoring order and security to the province.
Thieves in Cabo Delgado steal almost anything they find, but police say most of the recovered items are motorcycles and domestic appliances, especially televisions and computers.
