The Mozambican Attorney General’s Office today announced the capture of Nini Satar, who left the country when he was on parole, in 2014, after having served time on charges of involvement in the murder of journalist Carlos Cardoso in 2000.
“Within the framework of the measures taken, with the support of similar authorities, it was possible to locate and capture the citizen Momade Assif Abdul Satar, known as Nini Satar,” reads a statement sent to the press.
According to the statement, Nini Satar, whose probation has been revoked, was captured in Thailand, in anoperation which also involved the Mozambican National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC).
At the time of his arrest, adds the Mozambican PGR, Nini Satar, who had a court authorisation to leave the country for medical treatment, was in possession of a fake passport in the name of Sahime Mohammad Aslam.
“At the moment, procedures are under way for his repatriation,” said the PGR statement.
Nini Satar, who had served half his sentence, is also a suspect in kidnapping cases, but the lawsuits are still under investigation.
