The change reflects what the company calls its ‘Transformational Journey’ in wake of the region’s biggest ever corruption scandal.
The Brazilian civil engineering and construction firm Odebrecht SA is rebranding, following years in the spotlight of political corruption schemes that rattled Latin America.
From now on, Odebrecht Engineering & Construction will be known by the initials “OEC” and feature green, blue and grey colours on its new logo, according to a statement on the company’s website.
“The change reflects what the company calls its ‘Transformational Journey,’ with important advances in its governance,” it read.
The 75-year-old construction giant has been implicated in corruption scandals in countries across the continent, including Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru, where former president Alan García killed himself on April 17 as police came to arrest him over claims he took bribes from Odebrecht.
In Brazil hundreds of leading politicians and executives were locked up over the country’s biggest kickback scheme ever.
“In the year that it achieves 75 years of existence, Odebrecht Engineering & Construction is announcing the renewal of its brand, adopting the initials “OEC”. The new visual identity, developed with support from the consultancy firm, Keenwork, introduces the colours green, blue and grey and can be seen in all of the company’s communication from this month onward,” Odebrecht said on its website.
“It was an intense journey that enabled us to start a process to rebuild confidence and the results are now emerging, also in the form of winning important new projects since last year,” aded OEC CEO, Fabio Januário.
In addition to the new brand, the company will also start a publicity campaign in May, Odebrecht added.Source: Times / Bloomberg
