President Nyusi has urged governors, especially those just appointed, to accelerate the pace of meeting the goals set by the current Mozambican executive, whose term ends in a year and a half.
He urged leaders to consult communities and jointly define the best strategies to achieve goals.
The Mozambican head of state was speaking yesterday in Maputo at the inauguration of Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Júlio João Pio, as well as governors of Sofala Alberto Mondlane; of Manica, Manuel Alberto; and of Niassa, Francisca Domingos Tomás.
“Leaders must know the territory and dynamics they govern in depth. Remember that we are less than a year and a half from the end of our mandate, so we must accelerate the pace of fulfilling the promises we have made to our people,” he said.
He added that communities were collaborators in the accomplishment of the government’s goals reason, and it was paramount that the provincial government shared collective decisions in relation to objectives.
According to Nyusi, the participation of local leaders and communities, as beneficiaries of government actions, was of the essence, and vital for the success of any governmental action.
“The priorities are already defined by the populations and synthesised by your predecessors and, together with the collaborators who are already on the ground, you will be able to respond to the deepest yearnings of the population,” he said.
